Amazon lists M5 Max MacBook Pro at record low price alongside Apple Pencil deals

Amazon has listed the 36GB M5 Max MacBook Pro at a price $900 below its standard cost, marking the lowest price ever for that model according to 9to5Mac. This discount applies to the high-end laptop model featuring the M5 Max chip, offering a significant reduction for organizations evaluating hardware procurement costs for engineering or creative teams.

What is the scope of the current pricing changes?

The primary discount involves the M5 Max MacBook Pro, which sees a $900 reduction at Amazon. Additionally, the Apple Pencil (USB-C) is available for $69 new or $61.29 from used sellers, while AirPods Pro 3 are discounted by $50 to $199. The MacBook Neo is also $120 off via the Apple refurb store, and 240W USB-C cables with mini displays are listed at $12 each.

Which devices are affected by these price drops?

The M5 Max MacBook Pro with 36GB of memory is the main focus of the headline discount. The Apple Pencil (USB-C) is also heavily discounted, which is relevant for users of the upcoming iPhone Duo foldable, as Apple Pencil (USB-C) is the only model iPhone Duo will support. AirPods Pro 3 and the MacBook Neo are also part of the current promotional cycle, along with specific USB-C accessories.

How does this relate to previous product roadmaps?

As TechSec Feed reported on 2026-10-11, Apple plans to bring its upcoming chassis redesign and M7 chips to the base MacBook Pro model in spring 2027. The current discounts apply to the existing M5 Max generation, suggesting a clearance or competitive pricing strategy for the current lineup before the anticipated hardware refresh for lower-tier devices arrives next year.

What are the conditions for these deals?

The MacBook Pro discount is available directly at Amazon. The lowest Apple Pencil price requires purchasing a "Used: Like New" unit from third-party sellers on the platform. AirPods Pro 3 are available new at the discounted price. Apple TV 4K pre-order discounts are also available, but 9to5Mac notes that delivery dates may slip into late December, requiring early commitment to lock in rates.

Questions to ask your suppliers

Security operations teams should verify whether discounted hardware includes standard warranty coverage and original packaging integrity. Check if refurbished or used devices have been properly sanitized of previous data and firmware configurations. Confirm that the vendor’s supply chain for these discounted items remains secure and that no unauthorized modifications have been made to the hardware components. Inform procurement and IT asset management teams about any changes in device sourcing or warranty terms.

What to do and how to stay safe: Apple

• Verify the warranty status and return policy for any discounted or refurbished hardware before purchase.
• Ensure that used or open-box devices are fully wiped and re-imaged according to organizational security standards.
• Check that firmware on discounted devices is updated to the latest version before connecting to internal networks.
• Monitor delivery timelines for pre-ordered items to avoid operational delays due to shipping slips.
